TRA9200 portable high-resolution laser particle size analyzer obtained its patent in 1994 in China, and was put into the list of ‘China’s most important new products’. It’s based on the theory of Mie scattering and Fourier transformation of light. The measurable size range is from 0.1 to 300 micro. It comprises an embedded microcomputer, a LCD, a printer, a sample dispersing set-up and the measuring part. It can work without the aid of a PC and the result can be printed out. It’s for the use of factories and research institutes.

Measurement principle:
TRA9200 uses MIE scattering theory rather than any approximations to guarantees the accuracy of the measurements. It also introduced a patented, advanced technique to the Fourier transformation of light.
Resolution:
The measurable size range is from 0.1 to 300 micron. It’s is divided into 2 sub-ranges: 0.1-40 micron; 0.6-120 micron, and no need to change parts when your measurements go through the two sub-ranges. Unconstrained fitting software analyzes any possible size distributions, with a strong ability to resolve multiple peaks in the size distribution data.
Sample treating :
Ultra-sonic and stirring units are used for dispersing. The units are easy to use, easy to clean up, and can treat a big variety of particles. A real-time display of particle concentration makes the dispersing procedure easy to go through.
Operation :
Operation is performed by pressing 6 keys without the need to input any parameters or to remember any commands, and the whole procedure (including sample treating, measuring and result printing) costs only less than 3 minutes.
Output:
An LCD screen displays the spectrum of background, the spectrum when the laser goes through the samples, the data form of the size distribution, and the histogram of the size distribution. The printer gives the size distribution (volume percent), D10, D50, D90, the average diameter, the histogram and cumulative curve.
Advanced Applications:
It can be connected to a PC through a serial port. A program with a friendly interface is available for storing, analyzing, comparing and making statistics. Combined with an on-line sampling set-up it can be used for on-line measurement and remote monitoring.
